At the end of the post there will be a link to enter in the giveaway to win a paperback copy of Chasing TruthEnjoy!

About Chasing Truth (Eleanor Ames, #1):

When former con artist Eleanor Ames’s homecoming date commits suicide, she’s positive there’s something more going on. The more questions she asks, though, the more she crosses paths with Miles Beckett. He’s sexy, mysterious, arrogant…and he’s asking all the same questions.

Eleanor might not trust him – she doesn’t even like him – but they can’t keep their hands off of each other. Fighting the infuriating attraction is almost as hard as ignoring the fact that Miles isn’t telling her the truth…and that there’s a good chance he could be the killer.

My Bookmark Collection!

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about all the bookmarks I have collected over the years, and I thought it would be fun to share that information with you guys! I have quite a few bookmarks (some I even forgot to add to my pile to take pictures of), and all of which have been collected since elementary school!

My Harry Potter bookmark collection! The bookmark on the left was purchased at an HP event near where I live a few years ago, and the last four on the right are house pride bookmarks I got from one of my closest friends for my birthday this year!

My small Disney bookmark collection! I got the Alice In Wonderland page marker from an Owlcrate book box a few months ago, and the one on the right was a gift from my mom for Valentines day!

Book: The Hill by Karen Bass

Publication Date: March 31, 2016

Book Type: Paperback

Page Count: 250

My (lame) attempt at giving a synopsis of the book:

The Hill by Karen Bass centres around two boys, Jared and Kyle. Jared is a spoiled rich kid who was taking his father’s jet to go and visit him in Yellowknife for the summer. As they were flying, the plane crashes and a teenager named Kyle finds him a few hours later. Jared ends up in the middle of nowhere in a forest. Kyle is there with skills to survive in the forest and is willing to help him. When Jared is determined to climb up the biggest hill in the forest to get cell phone reception, Kyle warns him not too but follows him when Jared refuses to listen. As the boys climb the hill and come back down, they may or may not have woken up a monster from a Cree legend.

2016 Favourites and Yearly Wrap Up!

Well 2016 has come and gone and I managed to complete my goal of reading 50 books this year! If you would like to see all the books I read look on my Goodreads profile.

For this year I read quite a few fantasy and science fiction books that I absolutely loved and found myself thinking about months after I read them. They are:

  • The Martian by Andy Weir- I listened to this book using audible at the beginning of the year and boy was it good! The narrator was amazing by giving each character in the novel his or her own voice and making them seem real. The story itself was fantastic and reiterated my love for science fiction.
  • Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices, #1) by Cassandra Clare- This book is by far my favourite Cassie Clare book that she has written so far! It was beautifully written and the plot is so intriguing. The cast is also quite diverse which is an added bonus!
  • A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #2) by Sarah J. Maas- This book has such an amazing cast of characters and the world that is described within the pages is stunning. I can’t wait to read the last book to this trilogy!
  • The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater- This was so interesting! There was a mystery factor that kept me immersed the whole way through and I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
  • Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone (Harry Potter, #1), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Harry Potter, #2), and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter, #3) all by J.K. Rowling- These were all rereads for me so I could finish reading the series. Of course they were amazing and I can’t wait to continue the series and finally finish reading it this year! I wish I would have done this years ago.

What I’ve Been Reading Lately

For the last four months, I’ve solely been reading children’s novel’s for my children’s literature class. Most of the books on the reading list are ones I’ve been wanting to read, but let’s face it; if I wasn’t in a children’s literature class, I wouldn’t ever read them. Not because they are bad novels, but because there’s books I want to read more first.

However, I really enjoyed the reading list for my class!

There was only one book on the list that I didn’t really want to read because I had never heard of it, and when I read the description, it didn’t pique my interest. I will let you know what it was later in the post.

This semester (which is now over, hooray for Christmas break!) I have read:

November 2016 TBR

This month I need to read these books for school:

  1. The Railway Children by E. Nesbit
  2. Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie
  3. The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery
  4. Coraline by Neil Gaiman
  5. The Golden Compass by Phillip Pullman (this one I probably won’t read because I’ve already read it and don’t want to read it again. It’s a great book, I just don’t want to waste my time right now rereading a book I’ve already read once through.)

October 2016 TBR

This month I have to read four books for a couple of my classes (doing this also allows me to get ahead in one of my english classes). I would also like to read one book of my choosing for fun, but we shall see how the month goes. As you probably already know I’m terrible at sticking to my monthly TBR’s so, here’s my tentative October one:

  • The Complete Fairy Tales of Oscar Wilde by Oscar Wilde (which I’ve actually already read!)
  • The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
  • The Railway Children by E. Nesbit

My Spending Habits!

Most of the time I buy books on impulse. Sometimes, however, I do research first to make sure I really want to buy a book before I purchase it. I only buy books that interest/intrigue me, or that I have only heard wonderful things about via Booktube, Bookstagram, or Goodreads.

I like to buy books in store more than buying them online because I have a points card to Chapters- Indigo, so I like to buy the physical book to rack up my points so I can get free books in the future! And I mean, who doesn’t love going to bookstores?

When I go into a bookstore to make a purchase, I usually buy between one and four books at a time (sometimes more). I always have a list in my head of what I want to buy next. Right now though, because I just bought a lot of books last month and I’m in college, I have to cut back a bit on buying books. I’m only buying my absolutely most anticipated books in a given month. And some months there won’t be any books bought I’m sure. I actually find it easy not to buy books in a month. Sometimes I really just don’t want to buy any (I guess I’m just lucky that way!).

Since you now have learned my spending habits, what are your spending habits?
